Pieris Markou

Pieris Markou is the CEO of Deloitte Cyprus and a member of the Deloitte Middle East Executive Board, having previously served as the Tax & Legal Services Leader. He started his career in London in 1986 and was admitted to Partnership in Chrysanthou and Christoforou (Andersen) in 2000. He is currently the President of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) and a member of the ICPAC Council since 2014 having previously assumed many professional roles within ICPAC, including Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Tax and VAT Committees. Pieris is also a board member of the Nicosia Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He holds a B.A. (Hons) degree in Accounting, is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Kyriakos Iordanou

Kyriakos Iordanou is the General Manager of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) since January 2012. He has been actively involved with the Institute for many years, serving as a Council member between 2002 to 2011, and holding the position of the Vice President for the period 2009-2011. Kyriakos’ professional career began in January 1995 in the banking sector and spanned as financial controller in public and private companies, as well as financial and business advisor to firms in Cyprus and abroad until 2004. He then worked for the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus, initially as the chief accountant and then as the internal auditor from 2004 until the end of 2011. He also served as a council member of the Cyprus Institute of Internal Auditors (2006-2011). Kyriakos qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1997 and is now a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Kyriakos is a member of ICPAC and qualified as an ACCA in 1997 and is a Fellow since 2002. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CPFA) and a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (FCIS). In addition, he is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM). Kyriakos is a holder of a Master’s in Business Administration degree (MBA).

Constantinos Herodotou

Constantinos Herodotou is the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) and a member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank. Previously he served as Executive Director at the CBC’s Board of Directors (2017-2019). He also held the position of the Commissioner of Privatisations in Cyprus (2014-2017).

Before moving to Cyprus in 2014, most of his career was in investment banking at UBS Investment Bank in London, where he rose through the ranks to head concurrently two sectors: Head of Shipping for Europe, Middle East and Africa and simultaneously Infrastructure & Project Concessions Advisory & Financing for Central & Eastern Europe. He has advised governments and global conglomerates on major financial transactions and strategy, totaling a value of over €50 billion. His experience includes among others, mergers and acquisitions, structuring and financing project concessions, listing companies on stock exchanges (NASDAQ and NYSE), structuring and raising equity and debt, corporate and financial restructurings and heading complex negotiations.

Constantinos Herodotou holds an MBA from London Business School with Distinction and a BSc in Economics from University College London with First Class Honours.

He then joined, as CFO, the listed Frou-Frou Group of Companies, one of Cyprus' most prominent producers in the food and beverage industry. Stavros brings over 20 years of experience as a results-driven finance and auditing professional.

Over the last 2,5 years, he is the CFO of Altamira Asset Management Cyprus, a market leader in Cyprus in the field of credit and real estate management with assets under management close to €10 billion. His recent experience includes leading finance and digital transformations, as well as shaping high performing culture. Focused on the business model for specific target market with the aim of financial sustainability and profitability growth. From 2016, Stavros has worked for TFI Markets Ltd, a leading payment institution and investment firm, holding the position of CFO until September 2020. Previously he has worked for 15 years as an auditor with 10+ years at KPMG, auditing listed public entities and large local/international groups involved in banking, finance, trading, portfolio management and investments.

Before joining the Skroutz team, I worked for 4 years at PwC Greece, Deals - Transaction Services team, specialising in the provision of Financial Due Diligence (buy side and sell side), IBRs and SPA support services to private equity and corporate clients.
During my time in Deals – Transaction Services, I have been involved in numerous Μ&Α projects mainly in the Technology, Retail, Hospitality, Energy, Insurance and Telco sectors. Before joining PwC Deals team in 2016, I worked as an Auditor in the Assurance department of Mazars Greece for 2 years providing financial audit and agreed-upon-procedures services for a number of clients in a broad range of industry sectors.
I am a member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) and a member of the Greek Institute of Certified Public Accountants (SOEL). I hold a Masters Degree in Applied Accounting and Auditing from the University of Macedonia and a BSc in Economics from the University of Thessaly.

She holds a BSc (High Honors) in Economics and Accounting from Bristol University, became ACA with KPMG London and holds an MBA with distinction from CIIM. She held the positions of CFO, Financial Director, and Director in several listed companies, and she is currently a member of the Board of Directors of ECR ​​Cyprus. Today, after several years of experience in reengineering projects, business analysis, costing, pricing, purchasing, controls, and negotiations, she is leading a successful team of 250 people in one of the largest companies in Cyprus, enhancing her experience in leadership, strategic planning and sales and marketing.

Constantinos is a partner at PwC Cyprus since 2004 and for the last few years he is heading the Assurance practice in Nicosia. Over the years, he has been leading multinational PwC teams from various disciplines to successfully complete complex audits, IPOs and due diligence projects for large and medium size organisations . He has also led larger assignments in the fields of upstream O&G, retailing, bottlers and agriculture. Over the years Constantinos has assumed various positions in the Cyprus firm of PwC, in Risk Management and Independence Human Capital and Clients and Markets.  He has set up and is leading the PwC Cyprus Energy Team since 2012 and more recently the firm’s ESG Team. Constantinos has studied Accounting and Finance at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. He has served as a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) from 2012-2013 and the Vice-President and President of ICPAC’s Energy Committee from 2015-2019.

Demetris is a Senior Manager in Financial Advisory, having joined Deloitte Cyprus in 2021.

He started his career in Deloitte UK’s Banking and Capital Markets audit group in 2014, auditing FTSE 100 and tier-1 investment banks. He joined Deloitte UK’s Transaction Services in 2017, performing financial due diligence on some of Europe’s largest M&A and IPO transactions. During his time there, he helped set up Transaction Services Analytics, a team specialising in embedding analytics to increase the depth and quality of due diligence.

Demetris set up Cyprus’s Financial Advisory Analytics practice using his extensive experience in advanced data transformation and visualisation tools. His current portfolio includes analytics services to support large transactions across Europe and the Middle East; and business intelligence and performance optimisation projects for clients based in Cyprus. He is industry agnostic and has helped clients set up automated financial and operational reporting dashboards.

He holds a MEng Civil and Structural Engineering from the University of Sheffield and is a qualified chartered accountant with the ICAEW; completing his ACA qualification in 2017.

He was engaged, for more than 2 years, as an External Technical Expert, and leading the Onsite Inspection Teams, of the AML/Supervision Department of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). He was also the Chairman and a Member, for more than 5 years, of the Economic Crime and Forensic Accounting Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) and also the Vice-Chairman, for more than 4 years, of the Promotion of the Profession and Academic Relations Committee of the Cyprus Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).

Yiannis is engaged as an External Technical Expert, in the fields of Forensic Investigations, Anti-money Laundering Investigations and Audit Investigations, by the Cyprus Police Economic Crime Unit, the Attorney General Office, the Audit General Office and the Private Sector.

Stavros is the Finance & Tax Director and CFO of BP Eastern Mediterranean Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of bp plc. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of the UK (FCCA) since 2003 and a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) since 1999, currently serving as a member of the CFO Committee and has also served as a member of the EU Committee between 2006 - 2008. He is also a Member of the Chartered Management Institute of the UK (CMI) since 2008 and a Fellow (FCMI) since 2017. He holds a BA in Economics and Social Studies, with specialization in Accounting and Finance, from the University of Manchester and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Leicester. After qualifying as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1998, Stavros continued his career as a Financial Controller in public and private companies in the retail and construction sectors. In 2001, he joined BP Cyprus Ltd as a Business Controller, before being appointed in 2002 as the Finance Manager of BP Eastern Mediterranean Ltd. Stavros is also currently appointed as the President of the Cyprus Section of the Pan-European BP Retirement Plan established in Belgium. He is also an appointed member of the Cyprus - UK Business Association under the Cyprus Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) since 2018.

Maggie McGhee is the Executive Director - Strategy and Governance at ACCA. Maggie leads ACCA’s development of strategy and ACCA’s corporate governance arrangements and the governance of ACCA members and students.

Our integrated thinking and integrated reporting, reinforce that being a force for public good is at the heart of what we do. ACCA’s corporate governance arrangements and the governance of ACCA members and students are fundamental in ensuring we actively support ethics and integrity in the profession.

With a background in audit and technical accounting, Maggie was previously the Director of Professional Insights at ACCA, where she led a team of technical and policy experts to support ACCA’s global thought leadership agenda.

Before joining ACCA, Maggie worked for PwC in the Advanced Regulatory and Compliance Analytics area applying specialist analytics tools to clients in the banking and capital markets sector.

A chartered accountant with a degree in law, Maggie trained with the National Audit Office UK where she was the Director General of Audit. With over 18 years’ experience of auditing central government bodies, Maggie’s engaged extensively across the audit and accounting profession, both within the UK and internationally, to influence sector developments. As part of this work, Maggie’s been a member of a number of working groups and committees including Accountancy Europe’s Public Sector Working Group, the EU European Public Sector Accounting Standards (EPSAS) Working Group; HM Treasury’s Financial Reporting Advisory Board in the UK; and the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) Audit and Assurance Council.

Eliza Livadiotou

Executive Director Finance & Legacy at Bank of Cyprus 

 

Eliza is the Executive Director Finance & Legacy since January 2022, and since 6 October 2021 she has been an Executive Member of the Bank of Cyprus Board of Directors.

She is responsible for Finance, Treasury, Strategy and Corporate Finance, Investor Relations, ESG, Real Estate Management, Restructuring & Recoveries, Regulatory Affairs, Procurement and Economic Research.

She began her career in 1995 with the audit firm Arthur Andersen in Cambridge, UK, where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant. In 1999 she joined Bank of Cyprus, as Assistant to the Group Chief General Manager. In 2005 she moved to the Finance Division.

In December 2013, Eliza was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and from 2016 to late 2021 she was responsible for the Finance and Treasury Divisions. In October 2021, she was appointed Executive Member of the Board of Directors.

Eliza studied Economics at the University of Cambridge (MA Hons).

She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre, a Non Independent and Non-Executive member of the Board of Directors of CISCO, and a member of the banking committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

He is also lecturer at the University of Nicosia, where he has been a faculty member of the Law School for a number of years and of the Department of Digital Innovation of the Business School since 2020. He is the leading instructor of all regulatory courses in the Master’s programme of the University in Blockchain and Digital Currency, which is the world’s first Master’s degree in Blockchain and one of the top academic programs in the field. The practice areas of Dr Savvides include, amongst others, the regulatory framework of digital services and digital markets, especially in the areas of corporate, investment and financial law. He is legal advisor to investment funds, investment firms and crypto-asset services providers. Furthermore, he is an expert panel member of the European Union Blockchain Observatory & Forum, a member of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA) and a member of the Technology Committee of the Cyprus Bar Association. He is regular speaker at professional seminars, workshops and conferences, including special courses for law enforcement agencies, where he shares his knowledge and experience about the regulatory status and trends in the fields of investment funds and digital currencies.

Throughout his missions in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America, Guillaume has contributed to the retail ecosystem’s development and transformation.

He has experienced different environments, both challenging or ever-growing, where the leadership and strategic dimensions are fundamental to create value in the long term.

Efi M. Marcou

Head of Learning and Development at the INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF CYPRUS

 

Efi M. Marcou leads the Learning and Development Unit of ICPAC. In her capacity, she has oversight of ICPAC’s CPD Program, both in terms of regulatory requirements as well as monitoring of enforcement by ICPAC’s Members. Under her supervision, is also the design and implementation of all learning and training activities offered by ICPAC, including the identification and assessment of content and collaboration with leading professional instructors on topics that are deemed fit for Professional Accountants. ICPAC’s Learning and Development Dept. is also responsible for the Joint Examination Scheme (JES) maintained by ICPAC in association with ACCA, including registration of students, exams, syllabi and other requirements, the Approved Employer Scheme and the overall monitoring and implementation of ICPAC’s strategic commitment of providing lifelong learning opportunities to its Members.

Efi holds a BA from Macalester College, MN, USA in Economics and Communication & Media Studies. She is an ICAEW Fellow Member and a HRDA Certified Trainer for Professional Training & Development. Prior to joining ICPAC, she has worked in the Audit & Assurance Dept. of a Big4 Firm where she got qualified as a chartered accountant, then moved to the Banking Sector and subsequently served as Head of Accounts & Finance in an Electronic Money Institution regulated by the Central Bank of Cyprus. Efi has more than 10 years of teaching experience as Tutor of various ACCA courses and served as a visiting lecturer for the University of Cyprus. She has delivered a number of seminars and trainings on topics such as business coaching, organizational behavior, motivation in the workplace and more. She has represented ICPAC in forums and working groups and has delivered presentations on the issue of the accountancy profession and its attractiveness to academic institutions in Cyprus and to a number of other Professional Accountancy Organisations under the umbrella of IFAC.
